An Agent Skill is a folder of instructions a coding agent loads when a task calls for it. Nimbus publishes the skills in your project at /.well-known/agent-skills/, so agents that find your site can install them.
Prerequisites
- A Nimbus site that builds with
npm run build
Steps
Create a skill folder
In the project root, create
skills/getting-started/. The folder name is the skill’s name.Write the skill
Create
skills/getting-started/SKILL.md:skills/getting-started/SKILL.mdmd --- name: getting-started description: Help a user install and configure the example project. --- # Getting started Read the installation guide before changing project configuration.namemust match the folder name. Add scripts or reference files besideSKILL.mdif the skill needs them.Build the site
npm run build
Verify
Open dist/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json (dist/client/ with a server adapter). It lists getting-started with a SHA-256 digest:
{
"$schema": "https://schemas.agentskills.io/discovery/0.2.0/schema.json",
"skills": [
{
"name": "getting-started",
"type": "skill-md",
"description": "Help a user install and configure the example project.",
"url": "/.well-known/agent-skills/getting-started/SKILL.md",
"digest": "sha256:<hash>"
}
]
}If the skill is missing, the build printed a warning naming the folder and the rule its frontmatter breaks. Fix the frontmatter and build again.
How skills are published
- A skill with only
SKILL.mdis published as that file. A skill with more files is published as a.tar.gzwithSKILL.mdat its root. - Dotfiles are left out of archives, and symlinks are skipped.
- Deleting a skill folder removes it from the next build.
- The index is listed in the discovery manifest, unless
agents.discoveryisfalse.
Next steps
- Agent discovery: the other files agents read to find your site.
- Remote MCP server: let agents read your docs over MCP.
